We became a signatory to the Global Compact in January of 2007. The Compact is a UN initiative geared at evolving business practices to better address human rights, labor and environmental issues as well as anti-corruption. Although this is a voluntary program, all signatories agree to report on their progress integrating the Compact’s 10 guiding principles into their operations, procedures and policies. We released our first “Communication on Progress” in May of 2007. Read on to learn more about how the Compact’s ten principles complement the great work we do here at the Beanery!
