Dean discusses his book Javatrekker with Slow Food Monadnock Chapter
On Friday, May 1st at 6:30 Dean will be discussing and signing copies of his award-winning book, Javatrekker: Dispatches from the World of Fair Trade Coffee, at the Toadstool Bookshop (adjacent to Aesop’s Tables & Events, 12 Depot Square, Peterborough). This bookstore event is free of charge; at 7:30 p.m. the Monadnock Region Chapter of Slow Food USA will host a May Day Dessert Social and Organic Java Tasting at Aesop's Tables. Dean will be on hand to discuss Fair Trade practices and present several examples of the world’s finest coffees, sourced from farmer cooperatives in countries from Peru to Papua New Guinea. A selection of desserts and sweets prepared by Slow Food members will also be available, including some made with organic sugar and cocoa imported by Dean’s Beans.
Admission to the dessert reception and coffee tasting is $10 per person or $5 for children under 12. All proceeds from the event benefit Slow Food Monadnock, which works to promote foods that are “good, clean, and fair” and to support local farmers, producers, and food traditions.
